The Georgia West occurrence is located southwest of a small lake/pond, approximately 4 kilometres south of the west end of Savory Lake and 2.6 kilometres northwest of the centre of the Denak (MINFILE 093K 008) open pit.

The area is underlain by a batholith of the Upper Jurassic Francois Lake Intrusive Suite. At least five phases based on distinct textural and compositional changes have been recognized in the composite batholith. A complete summary of regional geology can be found in the Endako (MINFILE 093K 006) occurrence.

Locally, diamond drilling has identified a quartz porphyry with molybdenite mineralization similar to that of the Endako mine. Pyrite and minor magnetite area also reported along with kaolinite gouge.

Work History

The immediate area of the occurrence has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Endako mine and a complete exploration history of the area can be found there.

In 2011, Thomson Creek Mining Ltd., in conjunction with Georgia West Resources Inc., completed 19 diamond drill holes, totalling 3357.0 metres, on the Endako property. Seventeen holes, totalling 2856.0 metres, were completed on the Georgia West area. The highest-grade intersections, over multiple widths, occurred in holes 11A-050 through 11A-054, with 13.2-metre bench composites yielding 0.034, 0.037, 0.034 and 0.043 per cent molybdenite (Assessment Report 33287).

In 2018, Thompson Creek Metals Co. Inc. completed a 17.5 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on several areas of the Endako property including the area of the Georgia West occurrence.
